Billionaires and their allies in the White House and Congress are trying to cut Medicaid by hundreds of billions of dollars. These cuts would be devastating to every sector of health care, meaning reduced staff levels, fewer resources to treat our patients, layoffs, and even closures of hospitals and other facilities.
Millions of Americans who we serve every day will be hurt by Medicaid cuts. Longer wait times, no access to medication, service cuts to people with disabilities, and – let’s be frank – people will die as a result of these cuts.
As America celebrates our work during National Nurses Week, it’s time for us and the people who support us to stand up for our patients and for ourselves. We must stop these cuts to Medicaid and Medicare.
